The RoboRocketryTeam
On November 6th, 2011, fellow rocketeers from the BASIS Tucson Rocketry Club hosted a demonstration launch at the annual school picnic. They launched multiple rockets including rocket gliders and multistaged rockets. They even launched a 6 foot 7 inch Mean Machine rocket called the "Mean Yankee." Cal Miller provided a beautiful flight of his radio controlled boost glider that uses a rocket booster to propel a glider hundreds of feet in the sky for a controlled glide down. The launch and flight were perfect and he was able to fly it around and control it very well for a nice flight and soft landing in front of a very pleased crowd. Many of the students at BASIS Tucson Rocketry Club are also participating in the National Association of Rocketry's NARTREK Program. The club is also participating in the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) for the first time this year. Wish them luck as they prepare to compete locally, nationally and hopefully even internationally with a scratch built, dual-egg lofting rocket. You can visit the EMRR site at http://RocketReviews.com and check out cool rocketry contests that they have to offer on their site. Better yet, sign up and participate in a few contests yourself. There are some great prizes to be won. EMRR also offers a wealth of great reviews and information for rocketry enthusiasts and builders.
Also, check out NAR's NARTREK Cadet program and head over there to join another great program for furthering your rocketry skills. NAR will even be adding a NARTREK HPR program soon!
We have also been supporting The National Association of Rocketry's "Fly 50,000 for our 50th Program" If you get a chance, help out the NAR and introduce some kids to rocketry. the kids will never forget it and you may be sparking interest for a future astronaut or rocket engineer.
Visit the RoboRocketry blog when you get a chance. You will also be able to see some videos of the launches by clicking here.
